Coming out of a long electoral cycle, some in Congress are still at work on some of the systemic issues plaguing federal budgeting. Now, it appears that at least a little progress is on its way. Budget Chair Rep. Steve Womack said Friday that the Joint Select Committee on Budget Process Reform should approve reform bill within the week.
Fixing the nation’s broken budget process is a critical issue and one we’ve researched extensively. Seeing tangible steps toward this long-sought goal is encouraging, and fiscal conservatives should be on the lookout to ensure these reforms are a step in the right direction — and continue after the start of the new Congress.
